The Citizens' Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) offers programs first time home buyer education workshops and loan programs. The CHAPA website outlines "lottery" programs which offers a limited number of homes in certain communities. There are buyer income limits and other requirements for the lottery program. Special Programs for Boston Residents
The Boston Redevelopment Authority also offers programs for first time home buyers. They offer affordable homes to first time buyers that meet certain qualifications. The program sets a limit on the buyer's income as well sets a limit on the purchase price of the home. Check out the

Mass Housing
Another state program offered in Massachusetts is MassHousing.
MassHousing supports affordable housing opportunities across the Commonwealth of MA. Their home ownership programs help families find, finance and keep the home of their dreams. Programs are available to first time home buyers to help with a step-by-step guide to navigating path to home ownership.

Special Programs for Malden Residents
The Malden Redevelopment Authority has stated that local banks have committed $8 million to a loan pool which is available for first and second time home buyers. Contact Malden City Hall at 1-781-324-5720 to request an application.
Special Programs for New Bedford Residents
The New Bedford Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) offers programs for first time home buyers.
The Neighborhoods First - First Time Home Buyer Program offers downpayment and closing cost assistance, rehabilitation assistance and gap financing to enable income eligible applicants to own their first home. One to four family properties are eligible. Borrowers must meet HUD income limits. When using this program for downpayment and closing cost assistance, applicants must provide at least $1,000 of the required downpayment from their own funds.

"Home for the Brave" Program for Massachusetts Veterans
Effective July 2, 2008, there is a new program offered by Fannie Mae for Massachusetts Veterans. This program is offered through Mass Housing.
