Kansas first time home buyer grants and loan programs - The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) offers several first time home buyer programs.
KHRD offers the First Time Home Buyers Program (FTHB) which provides downpayment assistance to qualified buyers for the purchase of their first home. The program is for buyers with incomes at or below 80 percent of the median income for the area. The home loan/mortgage may be from 15 to 20% of the purchase price of the home, awarded on a sliding scale, depending on the buyer’s income. Eligible applicants are expected to make a minimum investment of $500 or 2% of the sale price, whichever is greater.
KHRC also offers programs for home owners to repair their homes, to make emergency repairs to their homes or to make their homes more energy efficient.
To see if you qualify for any of these programs, check out the KHRD website.
The City of Wichita's HOMEownership 80 Program provides financial assistance with downpayments, closing costs and rehabilitation expenses for first time home buyers in designated areas in the city. Financial assistance with rehab repairs is also available for very low income owner occupant home owners. The program is made possible with annual funding through an annual federal grant from the HOME Investment Partnership Program.
