When you're looking into financing your first home, check to see what first time home buyer grants and programs your State offers.
Some States offer grants which are "gifts" to you as a first time home buyer. This is often money that is given to you that is not a loan and doesn't have to be paid back.
Some States offer first time home buyer programs which are special loan programs or discounted rates provided to first time home buyers. Some programs also offer special incentives for first time home buyers such as allowing the buyer to put little or no money down as a downpayment.
Also, some grants and programs have qualifications such as a particular area you must buy a home in or a minimum or maximum income requirement for the buyer.
